The Board of Directors at Russian Railways approved a Comprehensive Programme of Innovative Development at the RZD Holding from 2016 to 2020. The programme establishes key performance indicators and sets out the principles of open innovation, which provide for the involvement of the scientific community in the new developments.
“Without new technologies and new approaches, the future will not come any closer! The Company is therefore constantly and consistently involved in these issues. Implementing innovative projects has allowed us not only to improve the quality of our services, but also to save us considerable resources. For example, we introduced a series of innovations which have increased productivity by more than 25%. Innovation therefore gives us results with a tangible economic effect,” Oleg Belozerov, President of Russian Railways said.
According to Deputy Transport Minister Alexei Tsydenov, the programme of innovative development corresponds to the updated Railway Development Strategy 2030 and other strategic industry documents. It includes measures to establish and promote high-tech and innovative products and strengthen the protection of intellectual property of Russian developers.
