For implementing the Moscow – Kazan high-speed rail project, the immediate task is to hold a tender in 2015 to select a contractor to carry out survey work and the project design for the route, RZD said in a statement.
In 2015, Russian Railways will be allocated about 6 billion roubles (USD 105.8 million) from the country’s federal budget to finance the project design work to create a high-speed rail link (HSR) between Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the allocation at a meeting with the country’s Deputy Prime Ministers.
“Foreign investors, including our Chinese partners, are showing great interest in the project. The task now is promptly to carry out the engineering surveys and develop the project documentation in order to decide the project’s financing model,” Prime Minister said.
Following the completion of the project design phase and project approval, the line will be built and commissioned. The project will be implemented by a public-private partnership.
