This year, Russian Railways intends to commission the reconstruction of 8 stations on Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Vanino stretch, as well as second tracks on three station-to-station blocks and to complete the modernisation of the railway line on two stretches. The line is part of BAM corridor.
Between 2017-2019, the company will continue to develop the Komsomolsk-Sortirovochny station and further modernise the track facilities.
Four years ago, RZD has commissioned the new Kuznetsovsk tunnel with a length of 3.8 km. This tunnel increased significantly the capacity of Far Eastern Railways in the direction of the Vanino – Sovetskaya Gavan transport and industrial hub. As a result, the line has eliminated a bottleneck and meets in full the demand for freight as traffic volumes to Russia”s Far Eastern ports increase constantly.
In future, the flow of goods on the stretch between Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Sovetskaya Gavan could increase to 97 million tons per year by 2020 and exceed 100 million tons by 2025.
