Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volynkin has confidence that a project to restore a direct rail link between Armenia and Russia through Abkhazia and Georgia would be politically and economically useful to all regional countries.
“Both economic and technical, as well as financial indicators should be worked out, only then we can say whether it is appropriate or not. Sometimes it happens that the project is more expensive and may become unprofitable from economic viewpoint,” Volynkin said.
Referring to the position of the Georgian side, which can have negative attitude, the diplomat said: “I think that all sensible people who know how to manage money, would realize that restoration of the project is an appropriate step”.
