Railcars repaired by Estonian company EVR Cargo in 2015 at the Tapa depot are once again in use in Russia, after they were banned last fall.
“The situation has been solved better than we expected,” CEO of EVR Cargo Raul Toomsalu said. He added that the company re-repaired the cars.
Last October the Russian agency for transport safety, Rostransnadzor, banned the use on Russian railways of freight cars repaired in 2015 at the Tapa depot of EVR Cargo. The decision was made after four freight cars derailed at a station of the Sverdlovsk Railway in September. Rostransnadzor attributed the accident to the inferior quality of work done at the Tapa depot.
