Rumo Logística announced that it already has the R$6 billion (EUR 1.5 billion) needed to carry out, in four years, a 650-km extension of the Ferronorte railroad linking Rondonópolis to Sorriso in Mato Grosso. The funds would come from the company’s cash and foreign investors. With this investment, Rumo Logística will have the opportunity to advance to the mid-north of Mato Grosso, today the largest producer of soybean and corn in the state, which already leads Brazilian grain production.
For the investment in Ferronorte’s extension to take place, ground transportation regulator ANTT must renew its concession to Rumo Logística in the Malha Paulista for 30 years. ANTT expected to sign the renewal in October but is still evaluating the request.
