The extension of Rome’s Metro C line between Centocelle and Lodi, which has been completed at the end of April, will go into service by mid-July. The announcement was made by the municipal transport company Roma Metropolitane.
The new stretch is over 5 km and will bring the lenght of Metro C line in operation to about 18 km. The extension will add six new stations to the existing 15 on the easternmost section of the line: Mirti, Gardenie, Teano, Malatesta, Pigneto and Lodi.
Since construction began a quarter of a century ago, the cost of the project has risen from €1.9 billion to over €5 billion. Completion of the S.Giovanni-Fori Imperiali section is scheduled for September 2020.
