”After 25 years of under-financing of the railway sector, is mandatory for the new investments in the rail infrastructure to be ‘harmonized’ with the trains which are already operating on the Romanian railway network, most of the trains being aged, with an expired lifecycle”, Dan Costescu, the Romanian Minister of Transport said.
According to the Minister, 10 new trains will be purchased in 2016.
”This year the Ministry of Transports has provided financing for 10 new EMUs. If procurement procedures will be performed at a rapid pace, the new trains will enter into service at the end of 2016, if not, passengers will benefit from the new trains starting with 2017″, Dan Costescu added.
