Renfe offers more than 7.5 million seats for travelling this summer

Renfe offers nearly 7,545,000 seats on all its high speed and long distance trains for travel this summer, from July 1 to September 15. With an offer of more than 22,450 trains in circulation, the company guarantees the mobility of citizens during these dates in view of the increase in demand for summer holidays.

The most popular destinations for travel this year are the Andalusian coast, the Valencian Community and the Costa Brava. At the beginning of the month, Renfe put into service two AVE trains, one in each direction, direct and daily to travel between Malaga, Alicante and Murcia. With these new AVE services, direct connections are created to travel between Malaga and Cuenca, Albacete, Elche and Orihuela, among others.

The greater number of frequencies and destinations, and Renfe’s commitment to environmental savings translates into a progressive increase in demand, which is more noticeable since the incorporation of the S106 units. The commissioning of these trains has allowed the reallocation of the material, thus implementing new services in nine autonomous communities, in addition to the absolute premiere of the AVE in Asturias, new AVE destinations in Galicia, and the launch of the Avlo S106 (the high-speed train with the greatest capacity in Spain) on the connections between Madrid, Zaragoza, Catalonia, Valencia and Murcia.

Renfe and its fight against climate change

Renfe leads the way towards environmental sustainability. All its electric passenger and freight trains are Carbon Neutral certified. In fact, its carbon footprint is up to 20 and 30 times lower than the emissions from cars or planes.

The daily operation of all the company’s trains prevents the emission of 4.7 million tonnes of CO2 per year and represents an energy saving equivalent to nearly 1.3 million tonnes of oil equivalent.

Renfe’s goal is to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050. In addition, it is part of the European initiative to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 55% by 2030 (a goal that has been met in advance).
