Renfe has put into operation 10 Avril high-speed trains on the Madrid – Zaragoza – Barcelona and Figueres Vilafant – Barcelona – Madrid routes from May 21, 2024, providing connections between the capital and Aragon and Catalonia regions.
Renfe says that wih the new Avlo S106 high-speed trains “will mean a weekly increase in seats on the low-cost trains in Aragon and Catalonia, of around 40% and 27%, respectively.”
The S106, AVE and Avlo trains will increase transport capacity with Avlo train delivering the largest capacity in the history of Spain.
This is “an absolute premiere of Avril high-speed trains in Asturias, with new destinations to Galicia, the Avlo S106 trainset providing connection between Madrid, Aragon, Catalonia, Valencian Community and Murcia.
The arrival of the new trains will mean more Avlo frequencies for Zaragoza and Calatayud, by adding a new daily service to both cities and an additional one on Saturdays and Sundays.For its part, two Avlo high-speed trains will stop at the Camp de Tarragona and Lleida Pirineus stations per day and in each direction.
Tickets for these trains went on sale on April 26 with a Superprice campaign at EUR 7 for travel from May 21 to July 21. Renfe offers more than 24,500 of these promotional seats on the Madrid -Zaragoza – Barcelona corridor and in the Barcelona – Zaragoza – Madrid corridor with stops in Camp de Tarragona and Lleida.
The Avlo S106 have a capacity of 581 seats distributed in twelve passenger cars.Equipped with highly comfortable seats with a 3+2 layout, they have information tablets in the room, Wi-Fi connectivity, spaces for baby strollers and vending machines.
The Avlo S106 are part of the investment package of more than EUR 5 billion that the company is implementing for the purchase of rolling stock and the renewal of the current trains.
At the moment, Renfe has received the first ten high-speed trains of the 30 ordered from Talgo.
