Renfe increases the number of Pet Friendly trains

Renfe is increasing the number of Pet Friendly trains. Passengers can travel with dogs weighing up to 40 kilos on the Madrid-Barcelona AVE services, going from 31 Pet Friendly trains to a total of 100 trains per week, due to the good acceptance of the service by all passengers. These new services are already available for sale.

Passengers can travel with dogs weighing up to 40 kilos on a selection of AVE Madrid-Barcelona trains (direct and semi-direct with a stop in Zaragoza), on certain AVE services on the Madrid-Málaga, Madrid-Granada, Madrid-Alicante and Madrid-Valencia lines.

Regarding the new service that will cover the Madrid-Barcelona route, eight new Pet Friendly AVE trains will be established (four in each direction) and the circulation of six AVE trains will be increased (three in each direction), which means a total of 100 trains per week.

One “large” dog is allowed per passenger, with a maximum of two “large” dogs per train, in a single carriage and always in a fixed space with two designated seats. This requirement does not condition the number of pets under 10 kilos that travel in a carrier on the train. The rest of the conditions of the commercial regulations can be consulted on the website www.renfe.com.

The ticket with the corresponding supplement for dogs up to 40 kilos can be purchased up to 24 hours in advance on the Renfe website, in Elige Standard class (provided that the seats are not occupied). In the list of trains in the sales system, there is a warning about the services that have a Pet Friendly car. The dog can travel both on the floor and in the seat, but always in the window seat.

“This initiative by Renfe reflects its commitment to its customers, who are at the heart of its business strategy, thereby valuing the importance for passengers of being able to travel with their pets,” Renfe says.
