The first two Traxx MS2 locomotives built by Bombardier for private operator RegioJet arrived last week in the Czech Republic. The locomotives, which were built at Bombardier’s plant in Kassel (Germany), immediately began testing on the Velim circuit. Both locomotives are scheduled to be put into service from May on the Prague – Ostrava – Kosice (Slovakia), Prague – Brno and Prague – Breclav routes.
Last year, RegioJet ordered 8 Traxx locomotives with an option for 20 more vehicles. The project is financed through company’s own resources and a bank loan.
The Traxx MS2 locomotives can reach speeds of up to 160 km / h and are authorized to operate on the railway networks of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria.
