Sound Transit selected South County Transit Partners joint venture to provide project management services for Seattle LRT extension project. The joint venture comprising of Mott MacDonald and SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business will provide the services for the Federal Way Link extension.
Under the contract, South County Transit Partners will be responsible for the design and construction period of the Phase 2B of project. The JV will provide resident engineering, construction and engineering management, project controls and scheduling, change management, technical support and inspection, and quality assurance activities.
The Federal Way Link extension includes the construction of a 12.5 km line of the Link LRT line and three elevated stations. The design-build contract has a value of USD 1.4 billion.
The project will extend LRT service from the Angle Lake Station to the Federal Way transit centre. The new stations will be constructed near Kent Des Moines Roa3d, South 272nd Street and the Federal Way Transit Center.
The Seattle LRT extension to the transit centre is expected to enter commercial services in 2024.
For the first phase of the project, the joint venture provided project oversight services leading up to the execution of the design-build contract.
Seattle LRT extension project envisages the construction of a 12.5 km line from SeaTac to the Federal Way city in King County, Washington. Including he procurement of 20 LRVs, USD 3.16 billion is the total value of the project.
The US FTA and the Department of Transport has provided Sound Transit USD 1.4 billion funding.
