At InnoTrans, DB Netz and Polish Railways (PLK) have signed an agreement on the allocation of fundamental responsibilities for operations and maintenance on the nine cross-border railway routes.
This is based on an agreement signed in 2012 by the governments of the two countries, which has already resulted in the implementation of a number of railway projects, including the replacement of the bridge at Frankfurt (Oder) and repairs to a viaduct at Görlitz.
‘Almost ten years, the cooperation between our two countries is of great importance for the improvement and development of infrastructure and rail transport. Undertaken by both the company’s activities are consistent with the policies of states and coordination between the rail infrastructure managers,’ Andrzej Pawłowski. Vice-President of the Management Board said.
‘Constructive cooperation of both rail infrastructure managers have a long tradition. The new agreement directs further action on the safety and quality of railway traffic between Poland and Germany,’ DB Netz Board Member for Marketing and Timetabling Thomas Schaffer said.
The new agreement infrastructural applies to the rail sections: Löcknitz – Szczecin, Tantow – Szczecin, Küstrin/Kietz – Kostrzyn, Frankfurt (Oder) – Rzepin, Guben – Gubin, Forst (Lausitz) – Tuplice, Horka Gbf – Węgliniec, Görlitz – Zgorzelec and Hagenwerder – Krzewina Zgorzelecka – Zittau.
