Polish railway infrastructure manager PKP PLK intends to sign all the contracts in the frame of the railway modernization program financed with EU support by the end of 2019, PKP PLK CEO Ireneusz Merchel said. The value of the program is estimated at PLN 67 bn (EUR 15.9 bn).
“I am 100% convinced that we will contract the entire [EU financed] perspective within the next two years. That is by 2019, including 2019, we will certainly contract [everything],” he explained.
So far this year PKP PLK has signed deals worth over PLN 10 bn (EUR 2.4 bn) and by the end of this year the stock of contracts signed is expected to exceed PLN 20 bn (EUR 4.8 bn), the CEO also said.
