230.9 million tonnes of cargo were transported on Polish railway network in January – November 2018, representing an increase of 5.08% or over 11 million tonnes y-o-y. Transport performance and operational performance for 11 months of 2018 are higher than in the entire previous year by 0.3% and 1.5% respectively.
In terms of weight, PKP Cargo maintained the first position, with a share of 43.63%, followed by DB Cargo Polska with 16.44%and Lotos Kolej with 5%. In terms of transport performance, PKP Cargo is also in the top, with 48.37%, followed by Lotos Kolej with 8.95% and PKP LHS 5.67%.
Based on freight licence, 67 railway companies operate on Poland’s railway network.
The passenger market was also recorded an increase from January to November 2018. In total, 284.6 million passengers traveled by train, a 1.9% increase compared to the similar period of 2017.
In terms of number of passengers, Przewozy Regionalne has the largest share (26.21%), followed by Koleje Mazowieckie with 19.15% and PKP Intercity with 14.94%.
In terms of transport performance, PKP Intercity has the largest share (52.88%), followed by Przewozy Regionalne with 19.96% and Koleje Mazowieckie with 9.93%.
Based on based on passenger licence, last year, 16 railway undertakings performed passenger transport activity on Polish railway network.
