PKP Cargo wants EU support for intermodal development

PKP Cargo Group has applied to receive the EU co-financing for three intermodal projects under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. The projects involve the acquisition of new rolling stock and equipment and modernisation and extension works of the owned container terminals.
PKP Cargo and PKP Cargo Malaszewicze sent to Poland’s Center for EU Transport Projects (CUPT) the needed documents for a possible 50 percent European financing.
Two projects carried out by PKP Cargo concern the acquisition of new rolling stock, particularly platform wagons for intermodal transport services, multisystem locomotives and freight wagons.
The third project will be implemented by PKP Cargo Malaszewicze and consists of carrying out the construction of the Intermodal Terminal in Małaszewicze, including the acquisition of technical equipment and machines.
“PKP Cargo is achieving an increase regarding the intermodal transport and, to maintain this momentum, we must invest for the segment’s development. We count on granting European co-financing for our projects which will support us to meet the intermodal market demand in the country and abroad, contributing on New Silk Road initiative,” Krzysztof Mamiński, CEO of PKP Cargo said.
