Graz and Schwaz, October 2024: The fourth and youngest company in the PJM Group looks back very positively on its first year of existence. After just 12 months, PJ Motion has established itself as a well-known partner for authorization issues in accordance with the 4th railway package. The founding quartet of Markus Fankhauser, Lorenz Kochan, Joachim Wagner and Thomas Hofer has already been joined by three more railway experts due to the high project workload. ‘The order situation is very good which is a great success for us as a new company. In order to realize our customers‘ projects in line with our quality and time management standards, we have expanded our team with three more specialists,’ says Thomas Hofer, Managing Director of PJ Motion. “The new colleagues will support and expand our expertise in the areas of safety management, RAM and ECM.”
Due to market demand, authorization management has emerged as a focus topic, especially when it comes to modernizing rail vehicles and evidence management. ‘The authorization process is very complex and requires in-depth specialist knowledge. One concrete example is refurbishments, which go far beyond the renewal of equipment and deal with tasks such as WLAN retrofitting, LED lighting, adaptations in terms of accessibility or facilitation for people with restricted mobility. What is subject to authorization and what is not? Are the adaptations economically viable or not? We are the right partner for all these questions.’ Other topics in the retrofitting of rail vehicles include ECTS, train protection and train radio. To put it short: ‘We provide certainty and are problem solvers’.
With PJ Motion, the PJM Group has 4 independent companies that offer specialized areas for all phases of rail vehicle authorization. The portfolio is rounded off by technologies for digital rail transport. The expertise in the areas of measurement technology, vehicle testing, engineering, approval management, inspection center and intelligent goods train make PJM a comprehensive system specialist in rail transport. ‘PJ Motion perfectly complements PJM. Our concept of offering all specialist areas for the approval of track-bound vehicles was confirmed by the market and customers last year. PJ Motion’s area of expertise has deepened our understanding of the system even further,’ emphasize Martin Joch and Günter Petschnig, founders and CEO of PJM. Another area in which PJ Motion can contribute a great deal of experience is the integration of automated processes at energy supply companies, such as the brake testing system.
PJM’s group alliance is also important from PJ Motion’s perspective: ‘Our clients know that we are on a stable basis and that we complement precisely this very piece in the PJM portfolio with our authorization expertise. A decisive factor for many clients is the interface management, which we optimize continuously as a group and thus offer added value,’ summarizes Thomas Hofer.
