The prototype of the new light rail vehicle for the Metro Rail Transit III (MRT-3), a mass rail transport system in Metro Manila, will be delivered in August 2015, Philippines Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) announced. The vehicles are produced in Dalia, China.
“As reported by the joint DOTC and MRT-3 team, the prototype is on-schedule for delivery in mid-August. The dynamic testing phase will start in November, which is when the prototype’s bogies will arrive. The monthly delivery of three (3) train cars should start in late January 2016,” said DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.
As part of the contract, 48 new light rail vehicles will be delivered for the Metro Rail Transit III.
In November -December will begin the dynamic tests, and the monthly delivery will start in January 2016.
