The Latvian government granted another extension until 20 September 2016 for the modernization of diesel trains for Latvia’s Pasazieru Vilciens passenger train company.
The agreement between Pasazieru Vilciens and DMU Vilcieni company on the modernization of the company’s DR1A diesel trains was signed in January 2014 for EUR 21,979,348, including co-financing from the EU. The initial deadline was September 2014, which was extended to 30 June 2016.
The first three groups of upgraded trains, each group comprising three trains, have been put into operation on 6 May, 30 May and 10 June, and the fourth group is to be handed over to Pasazieru Vilciens before 30 June. The fifth group is to be delivered by 15 July, and the sixth group consisting of four trains is to be delivered by 15 September.
