Transport for London has re-appointed Parsons Brinckerhoff as prime system integrator support partner on London Underground (LU)’s New Tube for London programme in a contract worth £1.9m (€2.46m).
Under the contract, Parsons will implement a framework to enable upgraded assets, including new trains and signalling systems, to integrate with each other and the 153-year-old railway, and do so without disrupting some of London’s busiest Tube services.
The programme will introduce new signalling systems and around 250 new walk-through, air-cooled trains from the mid 2020s on the Piccadilly, Waterloo & City, Bakerloo and Central lines. It will mean faster, more frequent and more reliable journeys for customers travelling on all four deep-level lines.
Over the last two-and-a-half years, Parsons has been working closely with LU to coordinate this complex series of upgrades.
