Romanian rolling stock manufacturer, Astra Vagoane Calatori, is the sole bidder in both Cluj tram tender and Oradea tram tender for the procurement of 20 new trams. Oradea Municipality launched this tender in May 2018.
Oradea wants to buy 20 trams in two phases, ten trams in each phase. The contract is estimated at RON 74.4 million, VAT excluded (for the first batch of ten trams) and RON 148.9 million, VAT excluded, for the whole batch of 20 new trams.
The deadline for the evaluation of the bid submitted by Astra Vagoane Calatori for the 10 new trams in Oradea is 10 October. The procurement of trams is financed from European funds through the Regional Operational Programme (POR) 2014-2020.
“The tender commission checked the offer and said it is eligible. The next step is the technical analysis of the bid to check if it is in conformity with the tender book specifications”, declared for de local press the Deputy Mayor of Oradea, Mircea Malan.
Representatives of Astra Vagoane Calatori have specified, for Railway PRO, that the model offered at Oradea is the Imperio tram. The same type of vehicle is the one in the tram tender oranised by Cluj. The Imperio tram is manufactured in Arad under license purchased from the German manufacturer Siemens.
We recall that Astra Vagoane Calatori was also the sole bidder in the tender for the procurement of 22 trams in Cluj. The municipality launched this tender on 10 February and the estimated cost of the framework agreement is RON 190 million (EUR 41 million). Financing will also be ensured from European funds, through POR 2014-2020.
