Turkish Minister of Transport Ahmet Arslan said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway will be commissioned in late June this year.
“Turkish president and prime minister carefully observe the process of the BTK construction. The railway line is extremely important for Turkey, as it will bring a significant part of cargo transport to the Turkish territory,” the minister said.
He explained that the cargo from China, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will be delivered to Europe via the BTK through the territory of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
In length of 838.6 km BTK will connect Turkish city Kars with Baku, in Azerbaijan and Tbilisi, in Georgia, offering transport connections within Eurasian region.
On Turkey’s territory, the line has 79 km, of which 58 km accounts for the Kars province, where will be constructed a logistics center.
