OmniTrax has completed the acquisition of the 101 year-old Winchester & Western Railroad company (WW) from Covia Holdings Corporation, the closing marks the successful completion of the transaction originally announced on July 26.
The acquisition expands the OmniTrax-managed short line portfolio into key new distribution locations in multiple east coast markets, providing customers access to 100 million people within a day’s transit.

Winchester & Western Railroad is a Class III shortline rail, operating in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and New Jersey. The company is able to interchange with both Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation from both its divisions.
The operator joins Cleveland & Cuyahoga Railway, Cleveland Port Railway, Alabama & Tennessee River Railway, and Fulton County Railway, on the list of recent OmniTrax transactions.
