A new generation of quicker accelerating Northern Rail four carriage trains finally entered service, after the completion of the electrification of the line between Liverpool and Manchester. From now on, the majority of services on the line will be provided by the refurbished Class 319 electric trains.
The trains benefit trom modernised interiors with improved seating, as well as newly-installed on-board information technology. “These additional services are another step towards bringing a fully electrified service to the North West. Northern is committed to delivering a great customer experience and our investment in these trains demonstrates how important that is to us,” Managing Director for Northern Rail Alex Hynes said.
