Newag has presented its Impuls 2 EMU for Łódź Metropolitan Railway, which will enter commercial services in December in Lodz region.
The new train will start testing in Krakow and in July an experimental track test in Żmigród, a town in south-western Poland.
“Our experience on Impuls Electric Multiple Units guarantee a very high availability and reliability of the second generation of Impuls vehicles. The new Impuls 2 meets all the requirements of Technical Specifications of Interoperability, guaranteeing passengers a comfortable and safe journey,” Józef Michalik, Newag Vice president said.
The new train has an increased capacity, with special place for bicycles, free Wi-Fi and USB chargers, as well as modern information system.
Under the contract signed with Newag, the operator ordered 14 three-car EMUs, valuated at EUR 61.5 million (PLN 267 million).
The project received a EUR 38 million (PLN 164.6 million) co-financing under the Regional Operational Programme for Łódzkie Voivodeship.
