Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company, TUSROC, intends to improve and develop the quality of service to enhance passengers’ satisfaction, company’s manager director Farnoosh Nobakht said.
“We try to improve the services, eliminate the current deficiencies and complete the projects. TUSROC is the most important company in public transport in Tehran, so for expansion of lines it certainly needs knowledge-oriented management,” Nobakht said.
As the operator intends to implement passenger–oriented policies, it will increase its productivity, increase the system’s capacity and will improve customer satisfaction. “Increasing fleet, and improving comfort and safety for passengers are other activities to reach the best services. Improving the quality of services in TUSROC is considered as a matter for more passenger satisfaction. Decreasing headway and providing better quality services are issues which encourage passengers to use public transport more than before,” the managing director explained.
Currently, TUSROC has decreased headway on Tehran metro lines and adding a wagon on Line 5 trains was a measure that increased the ridership by 11 percent.
“Over the past weeks, we doubled our efforts to decrease of headway on Line 1 from 5 to 4:30 minutes same as on Line 2, 3 and 4 to reach less air pollution, traffic volume and to persuading people to use public transport.” Pointing out to line 1 as a line in connection with all of metro lines as well as the most traffic line in Tehran metro, Nobakht said that “the low headway leads to reducing use of private cars and so people persuade to choose public transport in metropolitan areas, like Tehran, producing health benefits for travelers and for the general population of the city.”
In addition, TUSROC planned a development strategy until 2025 as intends to increase public transport attractiveness by offering fast, safe and economical trips.
“We try our best to have the customers more satisfied, to be more efficient in decreasing air pollution, passenger time-wasting and fuel consumption, and to be effective in providing various facilities in stations. Above all, we encourage low-income people to use metro system,” Nobakht said.
Currently, TUSROC is responsible for 2 million trips per day on a transport network of five lines in a length of 194 km served by 111 stations.
We remind you that last year, Tehran municipality and Japanese, Chinese and European investors discussed about the financing of three metro lines and two tram lines in the country. In addition, for Tehran metro development, this spring, the Industrial Development and Renovation Organisation of Iran (IDRO) has launched an international tender for the acquisition of 630 metro cars. The contract covers the design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of the new vehicles.
IDRO is one of the largest companies in Iran that was established to develop the industry sector and to accelerate the industrialization process of the country.
