Zineb El Adaoui, Governor of the Souss-Massa Region and Mohamed Rabie Khlie, Director General of the Moroccan Railways (ONCF), chaired a working meeting on the extension of the national rail network to the Souss-Massa region.
After a presentation of the outline of the medium- and long-term development plan for the configuration of the rail network across Morocco, the ONCF presented the first conclusions of the study on the construction of the future High-Speed Line, which will link Marrakech to Agadir.
The study was carried out with the assistance of a specialized consulting firm and covers the various components of this structuring project, which are of a technical, economic and environmental nature.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the aspects of the project, the location of the railway station, the route through the City of Agadir and its continuation towards the exit in direction of the provinces of the South of Morocco.
The Marrakesh-Agadir high speed rail project was signed by a Memorandum of Understanding on railway cooperation between Morocco and China in May 2016.
