TCDD is planning to open a new high-speed trains tender for 80 trainsets this year. Turkish Transport Minister Ferudin Bilgin stated that the current tender for the 80 high speed train sets will be the last tender according to which Turkish Railways (TCDD) will purchase trains from foreign outside the country. Thus, the tender will have terms and criteria such as 53% local purchase, joint venture with a Turkish company with minimum 25% share and production license of the sets after the project is completed.
