Transport Ministry in Turkey published a leaflet stating that all metro and tram car tenders must support local rolling stock manufacturing.
According to the leaflet, tenders for metro and tram cars must have new conditions provided in order to meet safety and competitiveness conditions as well.
Hence, no technical requirements should prevent local companies to participate in the tender, there must be supportive conditions for the local production, in every tender, there must be procurement of good, service or consultancy from local companies and another conditions provides that the local production criteria, in the existing tenders, should be met.
In the recent tenders for metro and tram cars manufacturing, these criteria began to be fulfilled, and foreign companies with local production facilities in Turkey were awarded bids in almost all tenders in cities as Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Kocaeli.
