Moscow Metro will launch a new smart CCTV system by the end of the year, company’s CEO Dmitry Pegov announced. Currently, this system is being deployed and includes the installation of special cameras, which are considerably different from the ones currently used. Moscow Metro will install the system in all metro stations and platforms.
According to Pegov, scans of passengers’ faces will be checked against law-enforcement agencies’ databases at the second stage of the system’s deployment.
“At the initial stage, the system will identify the passengers at entry and exit, seding information about people who spend a long time on the platform or in any other zone. In addition, the system will also trace people who are behaving strangely and those who are trying to hide bulky objects under their clothes” he said.
