Neuchâtel TransN company does not settle for its urban and regional bus lines, but wants to expand its rail operations, in collaboration with CFF.
“We have signed a letter of intent with CFF with which we are already collaborating to develop new synergies for the operation of railways in the canton”, declared Pascal Vuilleumier, the company’s general manager.
TransN is already operating Littorail (between Neuchâtel and Boudry) and the railways between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Les Ponts-de-Martel and between Le Locle and Les Brenets. A concessionaire of the railway linking Travers and Buttes, the company shares with CFF the operation of the section connecting Neuchâtel and Val-de-Travers. Moreover, the company ensures part of the connections on the railway between Neuchâtel, La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. “We are about to agree with CFF on a strategic contract that would be operational starting this autumn”, added Pascal Vuilleumier.
During the General Assembly of the Shareholders, Pascal Vuilleumier presented the financial figures for 2018. TransN general manager said the company recorded a deficit of almost CHF 500,000 (more than EUR 450,000) for total costs of CHF 87 million (EUR 78.5 million). “It is for the first time since the establishment of TransN that we have a deficit because of a cut of subsidies from public communities by almost CHF 700,000 (around EUR 630,000) for the second year in a row”, explained TransN general manager.
