MTR Corporation intends to set up the “MTR Academy” to further its work in developing highly-competent personnel to operate and maintain safe, reliable and efficient railway systems in and outside of the HKSAR.
The Corporation currently offers about 6,000 classes a year in functional and management training for its 17,000 staff in Hong Kong. While planning is still in the early stages, it is envisaged
that the “MTR Academy” will offer signature programmes in
engineering technology,operations, management and customer
service.It will also look to partner with local and overseas institutions to offer joint programmes in the above disciplines.
“The ‘MTR Academy’ aims to attract newcomers, especially amongst the younger generation, to the rail industry and thus create a strong pipeline of talent to ensure that we will continue to provide one of the best railway services in the world. The dedicated efforts of MTR’s highly-skilled workforce allow customers to consistently enjoy train journeys that are 99.9% on-time,” said Mr Lincoln Leong, CEO of MTR Corporation.
