Malaysian Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) has announced that all work packages for the construction of elevated stations for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line (SSP) have been awarded.
The total value of the six elevated station work packages is RM 1.23 billion (USD 290 million). According to the project, 26 elevated stations will be constructed in Kuala Lumpur.
“For companies which have just gotten on board, the Klang Valley MRT project sets a high benchmark on the construction industry. I hope you will be able to learn quickly as you carry out your tasks with close guidance from MRT Corp and Project Delivery Partner,” MRT Copr CEO Dato’Sri Shahril Mokhtar said.
WCT Berhad was awarded a RM 199.5 million (USD 4.7 million) contract for the construction and completion of elevated stations and other associated works at Kuchai Lama and Taman Naga Emas. For this contract, six companies, including WCT Berhad have submitted their offer within the open tender.
Last year, WCT Berhad signed a contract for the construction of the viaduct guideway under the SSP line project.
For the construction and completion of elevated stations at Sungai Besi and Serdang Raya North the contract was awarded to Apex Communication Sdn Bhd. The total value of the contract is RM 243.34 million (USD 57.4 million) and two other companies submitted their offer. Apex has also been awarded several work packages for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajans line (SBK), including the construction of two elevated stations.
For the construction of the elevated stations at Serdang Raya South, Seri Kembangan and UPM, Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd was awarded a RM 288.47 million (USD 68 million) contract. Five companies participated at this tender, including the winner. Last year, Ahmad Zaki also received a contract for the construction of a viaduct guideway from Persiaran Dagang to Jinjang. The company is also involved in the construction of SBK line for the construction of another viaduct and a new station.
The RM 219.7 million (USD 51.8 million) contract was won by S.N. Akmida Sdn Bhd and envisages the station work packages at Equine Park and Taman Putra Permai. In total, four companies submitted their offer within the open tender. This is the second work package awarded to S.N. Akmida for SSP line.
Acre Works Sdn Bhd received a RM 137.9 million (USD 32.5 million) contract for the construction of elevated stations at Sierra and Cyberjaya North. Six companies participated to this open tender. Acre Works is already involved in other SSP line works, including the design and construction of the new JKR Wilayah Persekutuan Workshop.
Malaysian Resources Corp Berhad (MRCB) won the contract for the construction of elevated stations at Cyberjaya City Center and Putrajaya Sentral. The total value of the contract is RM 145.8 million (USD 34.38 million) for which five companies submitted their offer. MRCB also performs construction works for a viaduct guideway on Persiaran APEC- Putrajaya Sentral section.
Besides these contracts, MRT Corp awarded a RM 39.89 million (USD 9.4 million) contract to Global Rail Dom Industries JV for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the building management system for a viaduct and a depot.
The SSP Line is the second mass transit line in the Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley region. The line will serve 2 million people stretching from Sungai Buloh to Putrajaya and will include Sri Damansara, Kepong, Batu, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Jalan Tun Razak, KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange, Kuchai Lama, Seri Kembangan and Cyberjaya.
The total length of the SSP Line is 52.2 km of which 13.5 km will be underground. 37 stations will be built, of which 11 will be underground and 26 elevated stations.
The construction of MRT SSP line was launched in September 2016 and the first phase is estimated to be operational by July 2021 and in 2022 it should be entirely completed.
