Moscow Municipality announced that nine more metro stations will be opened this year on the Nekrasovskaya and Big Circle lines.
The Big Circle line will be extended by four stations on the western side, with two of them – Ulitsa Narodnogo Opolcheniya and Karamyshevskayastation – expected to enter services in 2020. With the opening of line’s western section, transport services will improve in four districts with over 530,000 residents.
Currently, construction woks are carried out to extend the north-eastern section of the Big Circle line. In 2020, three more stations will be opened to passenger services – the Elektrozavodskaya, Lefortovo and Aviamotornaya stations. In 2015, construction works were launched for line’s expansion from Aviamotornaya to Savyolovskaya and are scheduled to be completed in 2021 and 2022. The works are implemented in three stages. The opening of north-eastern section will integrate Nekrasovskaya line into the metro system and improve transport services in six districts with a population of over 480,000 inhabitants.
This year, four stations on the second section of the 11.7-km Nekrasovskaya line will enter commercial services. The second section of Nekrasovskaya line is being built using new technologies. The 10-m wide tunnel-boring complex allows to build one large tunnel with two tracks. The first 7.9 km long section of the Pink Line, from Kosino to Nekrasovka, was opened in June 2019.
After the section’s launch, over 170,000 residents of four districts will have metro connections, saving up to 15 minutes per day. In addition, road traffic will be relieved by 7 and 10 per cent.
