Trial operation on the 7-km Nekrasovka – Kosino section, part of Moscow’s Big Circle Line project, will begin this autumn, Marat Khusnullin, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction announced. According to the schedule, by the end of the year the stations will open for passengers.
The section is part of Kozhukhovskaya Line which will have 17 km, linking city’s southeastern and eastern districts. It is considered among most complex metro construction projects. The new section will be launched in two stages. The section between Nekrasovka to Kosino will be finished in 2018, to be later extended to Nizhegorodskaya Ulitsa in 2019 that will thus connect it to the Big Circle Line.
The Big Circle Line is Moscow Metro most important transport project, with the first 10-km section and five stations being put into commercial operation.
The construction is in progress across the entire Big Circle Line, particularly, the northeastern section and Stromynka Station and the section is expected to be opened in 2021.
The Big Circle Line will be 67 km long and include 31 stations, with transfers to other metro stations and the Moscow Central Circle. It is expected that the line will be completed in 2021 or 2022 and, once in full operation, the line will carry up to 380 million passengers per year.
