Moscow plans new stations and rail lines

Moscow’s Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction, Marat Khusnullin, announced that 80 km of railways will be built and rebuilt until the end of 2019. The redevelopment will concern the Kievskaya, Oktyabrskaya and Kurskaya railway lines.
“Five new stations will be built on the radial lines: Aminyevskaya, Minskaya, Sanino on the Kievskaya line, Khovrino 2 on the Oktyabrskaya line, and Ostafyevo on the Kurskaya line,” Khusnullin said.
Until now, the Moscow authorities has implemented rail projects in order to modernise and expand capital’s railway network. In 2011-2016, 169 km of railway tracks were designed and built in the city. “This project has had a good effect on the entire Moscow area. It increases its transport accessibility and allows people to get to their destination quickly, comfortably and cheaply,” Khusnullin said.
For example, in 2015 a railway extension was built on the Moscow-Kryukovo section of the Oktyabrskaya railway, reducing the journey to the Zelenograd Administrative Area (the Kryukovo station) to 25 minutes. The extension is over 61 km long with 187 track switches. The reconstruction also involved 13 platforms, 27 bridges and flyovers, and over 223 km of overhead lines and three traction substations in Khovrino, Skhodnya and Kryukovo. The historical building of the circular depot at the Leningradsky Railway Station was also restored.
