The tender is divided into two segments that involves the acquisition of the engineering, procurement and construction for the infrastructures and the supply of the rolling stock, systems and operation and maintenance services.
According to the documents, it will be needed a fleet of over 200 cars, with four-car trains at rush hour and two car trains at off-peak times.
The deadline for submission of qualification documents is August 26, 2016.
The REM network envisages the construction of 67 km of double-tracks, with 4 branches connected to the downtown and 24 stations.
The value of the contract is USD 5.5 billion, of which La Caisse is willing to commit USD 3 billion to the project. The proposed financial structure also requires investments by the governments of Québec and Canada.
