Metrovagonmash, part of Transmashholding, has concluded a contract with Baku Metropolitan for the supply of two five-car 81-765/766 train-sets intended for the Azerbaijan capital of Baku. The contract was signed by Metrovagonmash general director, Boris Bogatyryov, and Baku Metro head, Zaur Huseynov.
Each train-set will have two head cars and three intermediate motor cars. The estimated service life of the rolling stock is 31 years. The first delivery of the new wagons to Baku is scheduled for March 2018. The contract is expected to be fully implemented during 2018.
The trains have a through passage and wider doorways in comparison with the previous models, as well as a new door opening/closing light warning system. The new trains are also distinguished by a number of innovations: wheels with noise-absorbing design; a new modern asynchronous traction drive; eco-friendly, noise and heat insulation of the cars. Special space for bicycles and wheelchairs is also allocated in the head car. Air conditioning, ventilation and air disinfection systems are used in the passenger saloons.
“Baku Metropolitan prefers the most advanced and promising technical solutions while updating the rolling stock,” said Andrey Vasiliev, Transmashholding Commercial Director for the Urban Transport Development.
