Metrovagonmash (MVM), part of Transmashholding, has reached an agreement with Sberbank Leasing on the delivery of metro cars to Nizhny Novgorod. Nizhny Novgorod (electric depot Proletarskoye) will receive 23 metro cars, that is 10 head cars and 13 intermediate cars. The total sum of the contract will be RUB 1.3 billion (EUR 19 million) and the delivery will be completed by the end of this year.
81-717.6 and 81-714.6 metro cars have been created on the basis of the previous models. The rolling stock complies with the most stringent criteria on the security of passenger transportation. Car compartments are equipped with a CCTV system. A forced ceiling ventilation is used, making air circulation possible not only during the motion, but also during stops. Luminescent lights known as ‘light lines’ are used in car compartments. Shaped panels made of fire-resistant plastic are used for the interior refurbishment of the walls. Compartment seats are made of fiberglass framework, while the flooring is made with heavy duty linoleum.
An evacuation exit is provided in the front part of the cabin. In order to comply with modern requirements on working conditions of the metro drivers, a seat with vibration absorption and pneumatic adjustment is used.
