This year, the Bucharest metro operator, Metrorex, benefits from EUR 51.5 million according to the Government’s Order 83/2016 and by EUR 41.8 million, representing the sums unspent in 2016 and reported to 2017, for investments in Line 4, 5 and 6, according to information released to press agency Mediafax.
Therefore, Line 4 benefits from EUR 14 million, Line 6 from EUR 28.6 million and Line 5 (section I, Drumul Taberei – Universitate) from EUR 8.8 million, Metrorex informs.
Around over EUR 24 million come from unspent money reported to 2017 to the above-mentioned railways. Line 4 benefits from EUR 19 million, Line 6 from EUR 1.8 million and Line 5 (section I Drumul Taberei – Universitate) from EUR 3.34 million.
„In 2017, Metrorex SA benefits from the total amount of EUR 75.7 million, a sufficient amount to keep up with the assumed commitments of commissioning and schedules”, Metrorex informs.
Regarding Line 5, according to the company, the finalisation of works for Raul Doamnei-Eroilor section, including Valea Ialomitei Station, is estimated for the first half of 2018, although, according to the initial schedule, it should have been commissioned at the end of the year.
„However, the placing in service with passengers will depend on the resolution of legal contests or on resuming the tender for the procurement of new trains and on launching the acquisition of the traffic safety system (to equip the new trains)”, the company says.
The underground transport operator says they had already initiated the safety system acquisition by using the existing rolling stock and installing the equipment on the vehicles of the existing rolling stock fleet.
