Metrorex to introduce new travel tickets

Romanian Ministry of Transport has submitted to the approval of the Government a draft regulation on the approval of metro travel tariffs. The text of the project, as well as the motivation instrument, have been published on the ministry’s web page, while proposals, opinions and suggestions are expected by 19 August.

According to the draft regulation, Metrorex (Bucharest metro transport operator) proposes the introduction of new metro travel tickets, such as the annual pass for 720 RON (EUR 157), the one-journey ticket worth 2.5 RON (EUR 0.45), the pass for a group of three passengers worth 5 RON (EUR 1.09), the pass for a group of four passengers worth 6.5 RON (EUR 1.31) and the pass for a group of 5 passengers worth 8 RON (EUR 1.74).

The existing travel tickets suffer no alteration: 5 RON for the 2-journey ticket, 20 RON (EUR 4.4) for the 10-journey ticket, 70 RON (EUR 15) for the monthly pass with unlimited journeys, 25 RON (EUR 5.5) for the weekly pass with unlimited journeys and 8 RON for the one-day pass.

The Ministry of Transport proposes the introduction of new tariffs to improve metro transport services.
