With the growing increase in the number of passengers using the Metro Line 1 of Panamá, passengers which already exceed 215 thousand commuters, the Cabinet authorized the Panama Metro SA, to contract by extraordinary procedure El Grupo de Empresas Línea 1 for the supply of 70 metro trainsets, completely compatible with existing rolling stock fleet, along with adjustments to the premises of the line and line 1 yard for a total of PAB 157 million (USD 157 mln, EUR 142 mln).
The first trains will be delivered at the end of 2016 and the full delivery of the purchase order will take place by early 2019.
