Mercitalia Rail, part of Polo Mercitalia, acquires from PKP Cargo 50% of the capital of POL-Rail, a company specialized in the rail transport of goods between Italy and Central and Eastern Europe, thus having full control.
“This operation is part of the development of the Polo Mercitalia, which is based both on expanding the coverage of the value chain of logistics services and on the expansion of the Polo companies in Europe”, underlined Marco Gosso, Chief Executive Officer and Director General of Mercitalia Logistics.
With the acquisition of POL-Rail (and the subsidiary Rom Rail, based in Bucharest, Romania), Polo Mercitalia strengthens its presence on a traffic axis characterized by important development prospects, such as that between Italy and Eastern Europe. POL-Rail generates a business value of around EUR 35 million a year.
