Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Commission, SPAD, announced that a detailed feasibility study is ongoing for the Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal to Port Klang link of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) which will be Phase 2 of the ECRL project. “When due processes are completed and the extension is ready for execution, SPAD will hold a Public Display of the conditionally approved railway scheme for this alignment prior to execution,” SPAD says.
The railway line between Gombak and Port Klang has an estimated length of 60 km and will be the second phase of the project.
In March, SPAD announced a preferred route alignment for the ECRL, with 23 stations, starting from the north of Kuala Lumpur at Gombak Integrated Transport Terminal (ITT). East Coast Rail Link comprises almost 600 km of main line and more than 60 km of branches and links to the existing network.
The East Coast Rail Line (ECRL) (Malay: Laluan Rel Pantai Timur) is a proposed railway line connecting Kuala Lumpur to the states of the East Coast Economic Region namely Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan
Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL) has been tasked to undertake the construction and implementation of the ECRL project.
