Newag vice president, Józef Michalik, and the Marshal of Lubuskie Voivodeship, Elżbieta Anna Polek, signed a contract for the supply of two new three-car diesel multiple units valuated at PLN 43 million (EUR 10 million). According to the contract, the new DMUs will be delivered before the end of 2020.
“In 2020, there will be two super-modern trains made by Newag. The highest traffic volume is on the Krzyż – Gorzów Wielkopolski – Berlin route. So this is good news for the north of our region, which is not without significance due to the sustainable development of our province,” said the Marshal of the province Lubuskie Elżbieta Anna Polek.
The DMUs will have a capacity of 400 passengers, including 150 seats, and are able to run at speeds of 130 km/h.
The new vehicles will be equipped with WiFi, air-conditioning system, power sockets and USB ports. People with disabilities will be able to travel in a safe and comfortable way, as the trains are equipped with an assembly of elevators and the interior of the train can be adjustment for passengers with reduced mobility. The train will also have special place for bicycles.
In addition, the DMUs will be equipped with a passenger counting system, interior monitoring and an application displaying the route.
