The extension of the Blue Line of the Lisbon Metro System from Amadora Este to Reboleira was officially inaugurated. The extension will improve the commuting conditions of the inhabitants of Lisbon.
The EU supported this project with EUR 43.4 million from the Cohesion Fund, out of a total investment of EUR 59.9 million. The co-financing decision for this projects fell under the programming period 2007-2013.
“I always pay particular attention to Transport projects. I say it often, better connectivity is crucial to Europe’s economy. Convenient road connections, comfortable and environment-friendly public transport systems; these infrastructures have a great impact on the attractiveness of a territory for businesses and tourism, on the competitiveness of the local and national economy and on the quality of the people’s everyday life,” Commissioner Corina Creţu said.
