United Wagon Company and Laude Smart Intermodal signed a contract for the development and supply of a flat car fleet comprising 1,000 units.
The flat cars will be used to transport the containers along the Russia–Poland transport corridor.
The model 13-6724 is the first flat car on the 1,520 mm track gauge space with a loading length of 46 feet and a loading capacity of 80 tonnes.
A notable feature of this car model is its ability to transport a wide range of container types, including two non-standard specialised containers of up to 23 feet in length – 20-foot containers with an increased body length of 6,058–7,010 mm, with a gross weight of up to 40 tonnes.
The car is equipped with bogies with an axle load of 25 tonnes, which use cassette bearings, designed to reduce the frequency of uncoupling for current corrective maintenance fourfold compared with standard cars running on 23.5-tonne axle load bogies.
The flat car fleet is expected to be delivered by the end of 2021. The service life of the car is 40 years.
The Tikhvin plant has manufactured two prototypes of the model. A full range of stationary, endurance and performance tests are expected to be carried out by the end of this year, for certification in accordance with the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union ‘On the safety of railway rolling stock’ by Q1 2021.
With this latest contract, Laude Smart Intermodal has a fleet of Tikhvin-produced cars of 1,841 units. It comprises 641 model 13-6851-01 flat cars for operation on the 1,520 mm track gauge and 200 Sgmmns flat cars for use on the standard gauge railway infrastructure.
