Freight transport on the Latvian railway infrastructure amounted to 27.237 million tons in the first seven months of this year, up 0.2% from the same period in 2016. International cargo shipments by rail in the first seven months of the year reached 26.546 million tons (+0.1%), while domestic shipments – 690,400 tons (+3.6%).
Transit cargo by rail grew to 24.531 million tons (+5%), while import cargo by rail stood at 1.803 million tons (-25.3%), and export cargo at 212,900 tons (3.53 times reduction).
Freight transport by railway in Latvia fell by 14% to 47.8 million tons in 2016.
