Bulgarian railway infrastructure manager, NRIC, and Kostenets DZZD – Septemvri 2018 consortium signed a BGN 380 million (EUR 194.3 million) contract for the modernisation of Kostenets–Septemvri railway section.
The consortium comprises Trans Logistics EOOD, Contratas Iglesias and Arcada Company.
The assessment of conformity and construction supervision of the project will be carried out by IVER DZZD consortium, consisting of the companies IV Kontrol Varna EOOD, Etacons OOD and RPA Konsulting. The value of this project is BGN 8.27 million (EUR 4.2 million).
The Kostenets-Septemvri modernisation has a total cost of EUR 178.25 million, of which EUR 151.5 million (85%) is covered by the Connecting Europe Facility,
Under the project, a 24.4 double track will be upgraded, and three tunnels will be constructed.
Kostenets–Septemvri section is part of Sofia-Plovdiv railway line situated on the Orient-East Med Core Network Corridor.
The modernisation project will remove the bottleneck on this section which currently does not meet the technical standards for passenger and freight transport.
